Modders have previously added support for modern systems to the original Star Wars: Dark Forces. Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II was released on PC in October 1997 and scored 91 out of 100% on the Aggregator metacritical. The hero must defeat the Dark Jedi and decide which side of the force he wants to stand on.
In the story, mercenary Kyle Katarn discovers a connection with the Force and acquires Jedi abilities.
As expected, the plasma blade slices through enemies, severing their limbs – a separate video is devoted to this mechanic in the remake (attached below). In addition to firearms, Dark Forces II also has lightsabers. Ruppertle’s remake of Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II won’t impress the modern gamer with graphics, but it looks a lot better than the 1997 original with its boxy models. In version 1.0, which can be downloaded for free from the Ruppertle page of the website Patreonfeatures the first two levels of the story campaign, a sandbox mode, four survival arenas, and a 3D model viewer. His goal was to create one of his favorite childhood games from scratch in a new engine. The revival of the 90’s era PC gaming classics was undertaken by an independent developer under the pseudonym Ruppertle, best known for mods for Arma.
